Govt agrees to Khaleda’s treatment at United Hospital

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government will determine through consulting with expert physicians whether Khaleda Zia to be shifted to United Hospital—the hospital preferred by ailing BNP Chairperson, for treatment.

The minister made the remarks in response to a proposal from the BNP leaders, at a meeting with the latter at the secretariat Sunday (September 9).

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir quoted the minister to media, as the meeting with Asaduzzman Khan Kamal ended.

“Khaleda Zia is severely ill. We have asked her treatment at a specialized hospital. (We have) recommended United Hospital, which is preferred by Khaleda Zia,” Fakhrul told reporters what they told the minister at the meeting.

“The government will decide it upon consultation with expert physicians,” he quoted the minister.

A seven-member BNP team went to the secretariat around 3pm, for holding discussion with Asaduzzman Khan Kamal, on issues of Khaleda Zia’s treatment.

The team includes secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Rafiqul Islam Mia, Mirza Abbas, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Nazrul Islam Khan.
