Bangladesh English School Parents’ Association (BESPA) was formally inaugurated at the National Press Club at 11 am on Saturday. Bangladesh English School Parents’ Association (BESPA) is a central platform of all offshore parents forums from number of English Medium Schools elsewhere in the country. This has been formed as a pressure group to press home against the discrepancies of unprofessional attributes, attitudes of school authorities and rational demands of parents of different approaches that they have been facing from last couple of decades.
The round table was held on “English Medium Education :Opportunities and Challenges during and post COVID-19 “. However, the program was chaired and moderated by Prof. Masud A Khan, the convener of BESPA and Dr. Habibe Millat , MP attended in the program as the Chief Guest. The Convenor Prof. Masud A Khan spoke about all the irregularities of school authorities but simultaneously appreciated the legacy they have been carrying out. Mr. Masud A Khan expressed his interest to make a healthy partnership between parents and school authorities through a transparency.
In his remarkable speech Dr. Habibe Millat MP assured of placing the demands of parents to the respective authorities. Prof. Habibe Millat also came up with his personal opinion to deploy a watchdog committee to monitor the schools. Md. Zahirul Islam, one of the Co-Convenors of the BESPA read out the 14 points demands. Barrister Omar Faruk, a noted lawyer disclosed his emotional bitter experiences that he has personally come across and how he went to court and found a verdict. Apart from them Mr. Kamruzzaman, Co-Convenor of BESPA, Mr. Robiul Alam, Joint Convener of BESPA, Ms. Salma Mamtaz, Member Secretary of BESPA, Ms. Parvin Sultana, joint member secretary of BESPA , Mr. Arif Chowdhury, Co-Convenor and other Executive members spoke in the round table. Some parents among the participants spoke in the program spontaneously. Finally the program ended up with a lunch .
